Top Power comes from a combustion chamber with perfect sealing capability. NO LEAKS! We find that the valve guides are almost never aligned correctly, or sized correctly, which does not allow the valve to seal against the seat perfectly. (Lapping with a massive mis-alignment might seal for a bit, but will absolutely not last, and you do damage to the valve face and valve margin trying to make this work.)

Correcting Misalignment for Consistent Results

We are, in most cases, pressing out the guides and realigning them with the valve seat, then honing the guide to the proper clearance as this measurement is very inconsistent. This can be due to worn tooling, different machines, different operators, production quotas…etc…Once this is done, we can proceed to the next step.
